Thank you for the reply. My confusion stemmed from whether i can use my US License as my id for gaining the license. Or whether somehow my A# or I94 number had to be noted on the license/certificate in order to use it at a later point for the green card process.

I am having a proiblem with the I140 approval and I485 visa requested in wrong category. My Labor Certification is filed in EB3( BS with 2 plus years of experience). The company does not want to take risk hence filed in EB3 category.
After the labor certification is approved I filed my I140 in EB2 with the appropriate documentation qualifying for the upgraded/change position with additional skills and my I140 got approved in EB2 and the approval has 203 (b) 2.
After filing I485, interview is scheduled and the officer satisfied that the documents are sufficient and I am approveable the Immigration Officer requested visa number and came back saying no visa number is available hence we need to wait. At the time of interview(Ocotber 2005) both EB3 and EB2 are retrogressed. The officer did not give any sort of documents hence did not know anything such what category he requested what code did he use.
In July 27th the Immigration Officer mentioned that the previous officer requested the visa number in EB3(E37). I spoke with an attorney who said that it is possible to change and hence taken the steps to correct the error/mistake of wrong EB Category.Because of this wrong category I did not get visa number.
What are my chances that the USCIS goes back and corrects the error and put back in EB2 and request number in E21 or E26.I already sent the letters of my I140 approval, receipt of I140. What process should I take apart from reaching out CIS Ombudsman, Congresswoman,Senator,self letter addressing to the USCIS about the error and the potential long waiting periods for no fault of mine.
Any suggestions?

As such there is no requirement on the time limit. But generally the supporting documents include 3-6 months latest statements of savings account. As per general advice the account balance should be atleast 5K per person (so if you are applying visitor visa for 2 persons it is 10K).
I recently applied visitor visa for my in-laws and they got the visa. I gave 4 months of latest bank statements. The visa officer didn't check any supporting documents as such but they did ask from when your daughter and son-in-law are staying in USA?
So bottom line is if it is necessary you can try your luck, else wait for few more months.

You can take time off -- like 4 weeks without any issue (I have done this), as long as the new company has filed to transfer your H1B petition.
I guess you should avoid going out of status -- where the old company has revoked your H1B when the new company hasn't even filed the H1B transfer petition. Other than this, taking time off between jobs should not be any problem at all, provided you stay within the country and, no travel outside the US. But if you do, you should consult your lawyer about its implications. Good luck with your new endeavors.

CCC Can you please wait for a day. We are working on holding a 'All Hands' conference call. Giving financial details is on the top of the agenda. We'll provide information about what have been spent so far what we have in reserves and what expenses we expect in the near future. Please stay tuned for the update on the conference call.
If appropiate can one of the administrators tell us how much of the funds collected thus far have been used (for whatever purposes). I am not asking where the money went :-), just basically how much is left in the Kitty now. If we are running low i am hoping we will see a spur of new donations..
Before anybody asks; yes i have contributed to IV. $600 as of now. I plan to send in another $100 or $200 by end of the month.
PS- Of course as i said above please disclose this info only if its deemed not sensitive.

I do not get my pay checks by email. We have to log into our company's internal web site and take a print out of the paycheck. (Its actually a web page I have been taking a printout, even for my Visa extensions). My parents had a Visa Stamping last month with out any issues.
