    Guys
Im just thinking aloud here. We want to be heard and we want to educate people as to how we are different from Illegal immigrants.

Why not post a question for the Republican debate? If our questions get selected and aired we will have 30 seconds of national television audience. We might even get some answers from some presidential candidates.

What i have in mind is get a few of us together, preferably people from different nationalities. Each one of us will hold a placard with
Legal Immigrant in bold, educational qualification, Federal tax paid, State tax paid, SSN tax paid and finally number of years in green card wait.

One person.. can then briefly mention what our issues are and ask what the candidate can do for us.

Each placard also has immigrationvoice.org on it...we have free advertising, we have airtime for free... and we have a national audience.

I know very well that the candidates answer may not directly help us.. but at least we will get some attention. Many many citizens watch the debate.

    Thanks
    A

If one has already recieved their Green Card and been working with the same employer who sponsered their Green card, for 6 months, can they then leave the employer and take a break for another 6 months?

Is it necessary to be working always if one has recieved an employment based Green Card?

    Thanks for the quick response.
I couldnt find the form on the uscis website, which generally lists supplemental forms next to the main ones. Couldnt even find a link to this, so wasnt sure if my doc was doing the right thing or following some old procedure.

One more question : I-693 has 4 copies (one for uscis, one for self, one for doc etc). Does it matter which copy goes to uscis (since they are basically the same, except for the text in the bottom which denotes the copy).
Because I think my doc put his copy in the sealed envelope, and gave me a photocopy of that.
Should I go back and have him redo the form (he has bad handwriting too, like most doctors)?

to port ur PD u shoudl have ur 140 approved from the first filing!
You can port PD only by sending in the previous approved 140 with the new 140 and request for interfiling!

gurus will correct me if i am wrong!

First time I applied Labor Certification (LC) in 2004(pending, not approved or denied) and second time I applied on PERM without porting the first Labor application date with same company, same catagory(EB3) and same job description which approved with PD Feb 2006. I applied 485 on july last year when all PD were current.

Question: Can I port my PD from the first Labor application date now.

"Everybody is talking about the illegal immigrants, even though they broke the law," said Patel. "They are going to give them amnesty, but the high-skilled people like us, who are contributing to the U.S. economy - we are overlooked."

Good article giving us some great exposure. Just noticed the above line in the article..... I hope there is no political impact of the use of "amnesty" in the statement. I guess I am being a bit paranoid!

Great Analysis from AILA to share with our readers. PL 111-230 requires the submission of an additional fee of $2,000 for certain H-1B petitions (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) and $2,250 for certain L-1A (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137416.html) and L-1B petitions postmarked on or after August 14, 2010. Petitioners subject to this new fee include employers with more than 50 employees in the U.S., for which 50% of their workforce is on H and L visas. The fee will remain in effect through September 30, 2014.

USCIS indicated that Vermont Service Center and California Service Center were instructed to hold any H or L petitions sent after that date, pending guidance on how to determine whether the petitioner is subject to the new fee. USCIS will be modifying the I-129 or H-1B Data Collection Form to include information on whether this fee applies.

In the interim, USCIS suggested that petitioners could proactively include a certification regarding the fee, including a notation of whether the fee is required in bold capital letters at the top of the cover letter. The sample certification that the petitioner is not obligated to pay the fee would be:

[Name of employer] has over [insert total US employees] employees in the United States, of whom fewer than [insert number or percent] are H-1B or L nonimmigrants. As such, [name of employer] is not subject to the additional fees required under PL 111-230.

We will update our readers as we receive more guidance on this new change.

Immigration law is federal law. You can work with a good attorney anywhere in the country via fax, phone and email.

You are right - based on my personal experience, Like Doctors, it is always good to have an attorney physically reachable; it will be handy when the need arises. I guess, the OP is looking on similar lines.

Visual Studio 2005 is the IDE - an application that allows you to create other applications. Silverlight is a target runtime much like WinForms, WPF, etc. You can use VS 2005 - albeit a bit hackishly - to create projects that allow you to create outputs for all three.

Based on your code, is this a ASP.net application?

From over an year, I have been working on EAD. Recently I resigned from my job, however I am still looking for a new job. I have a few questions related with EAD:
    1. Even after leaving the company, is it legal for me to stay in the country and for how long?
    2. Can I look for any kind of job on EAD or there is any restrictions?
    3. Is it possible that my former employer can cancel my EAD?
    4. If I find a new job, do I have to use immigration lawyers of my former employer to help renew my EAD, travel document etc. from time to time or I can hire another immigration lawyer?

    Thanks.

Apparently, no movement for EB3 ROW from November 2006 - April 2007:

    November - 2006: 01AUG02

    April - 2007: 01AUG02

In May 2007, it jumped to 01AUG03. I hope that there will be a movement in Jan 2009, Feb 2009 VB but looking at the trends it doesn't smee like there will be any.

I thought they changed their mindset from having no movement most of the year then jumping ahead several years in the last quarter and playing catch up.. this is what got them the 07 fiasco
but apparently they are repeating the trend
this no movement for ROW makes no sense at all

Here is the link that I found. Americans think h1b's are not paying taxes. Ignore it was posted.

Can Immigrants Save Social Security? By Edwin Rubenstein (http://www.zazona.com/ShameH1B/Library/Archives/SaveSS.htm)

    Conclusion Text:

Foregone payroll taxes are just the tip of the iceberg. H-1bs are entitled to every social service funded by U.S. taxpayers. They use our city parks, roads, and other infrastructure. And after working six years without paying Social Security taxes many H-1bs get Green Cards, qualifying them for Social Security benefits when they retire. No effort is made to collect back payroll taxes. And what about those American workers who lose their jobs, their health insurance, and Social Security points because companies prefer the cheaper H-1bs?.

    Thanks.

In the March issue of BioScience (a widely read scientific journal) Gillean Andres reports on the growing momentum for new federal incentives to attract new students into careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The article is available here: Washington Watch: The Cost of Doing Business: Should the United States Create Incentives for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) Labor? (http://www.aibs.org/washington-watch/washington_watch_2006_03.html).

Legislators in both parties have been attentive to these proposals. High-profile Republicans, including Representative Frank Wolf (VA) and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, were among the first advocates for a renewed investment in innovation to protect the STEM workforce. Now they have been joined by leading House Democrats and a bipartisan group of senators.

So, the general political climate seems favorable to what Immigration Voice is trying to achieve. The question is whether IV can cash in on the opportunity.

    Guys,

After a long time I am logging into IV board. It was difficult period. Moved from TX to VA During January start. It took long to get me a good "matching" job and had to move on EAD. Sent the "proof of employment letter" to lawyer for AC21 notification.
